Quamar had been a supplier for some major brands for producing essential components and grinders.
With its experience and knowledge in the production, they later started out with their own brand of grinders.
Not only are they high performance and reliable, the Quamar Q50S Grinder is very affordable.

Quamar products are entirely made in Italy.

A quick guide for owners:

On calibration of grind size and setting the timer

The calibration guide below is base on the Quamar M80E which will be very similar to the Q13E.

For the Q50 series:
Q50E, there are only two programmable buttons.
Q50S, there are neither any programmable buttons nor an electronic panel. There’s a switch knob at the side for timer control.

What’s the main difference between Q13, M80 and Q50?

Q50 uses the smallest burrs with Q13 using the largest.
M80 which has a 63mm burr, is the smallest size we recommend for cafes, offices, restaurants. They are also excellent for homes.
Between Q13 with 75mm flat burrs and Q13 with 71mm conical burrs, the latter is actually much bigger. Conical burrs can produce rounder grinds with better yield, also they spin at a much slower speed.

The smaller the burrs, the less fine it can grind, and also more heat it will release during grinding. Heat is increased due to lesser surface area to dissipate, and faster RPM of turning required.
Heat is one of the main banes to coffee grinds and can diminish the aromatic profiles significantly.

What’s the main difference Quamar Q50 and Bezzera’s BB005?

Quamar Q50 has a better control on the timer. The collar has reference markings which might make it easier to follow for grind size adjustments.  The Quamar Q50 will be more convenient to use if you intend to pour all your coffee into the bean hopper and use the timer to dispense coffee, that will be great if you do many coffee. The caveat is you will need to configure both the timer and grind size, which makes the calibration process less pleasant initially or when there’s a change of blend.

If you are doing single dosing, which means that you are not using the timer. You grind out a pre-measured amount of coffee every time you make an extraction. The Bezzera BB005 will be more ideal as it has less retention at the feeding collar. We will recommend using the single dosing method for home users or in low volume areas. It’s actually an easier method to use, and to teach a new user.

Bezzera BB005 is using a 48mm conical burr, the number may appear smaller than the Q50’s 54mm but the conical burrs for the Bezzera actually has a much bigger surface area which means that it can grind much finer, almost equivalent to the M80E’s 63mm. Conical burrs produce grinds that are rounder to give better yield.  Besides that, the RPM for the BB005 is much slower, so the end result is generally more favourable.

54mm Flat Burrs

Made of hardened stainless steel, the flat burrs are very affordable.

The 54mm size should last approximately 250-300 KG before replacement is required.

Fresh on demand

Beans are better protected from oxidation when it is in bean form.
In powdered form, the surface area will increase by at least 60 times which hasten oxidation, making your coffee stale within 6 hours of exposure.
This is an on-demand grinder, meaning the beans will remain in bean form and grind only when it’s activated.

Manual Control

The Quamar Q50S is a simpler version with a timer at the side to control the coffee dosage.

Hit the button below the nozzle and it will activate the grinder according to the time set

Mini Step Adjustments

The user can make tiny steps of adjustment to reach the grind setting he wants.

With the measuring scales, the user will have a reading to the preferred grind setting.

Well-Designed Hopper

The Quamar Q50S Grinder had been requested for a smaller 500g beans hopper. Users can upgrade to a 1.2 KG.

The hopper can be easily removed by the user and he can put the excess beans back to storage.

Durability

The hardened stainless steel and the heavy duty motor should last well for years.

Easy Cleaning

The hopper, burrs and most parts can be removed or access to clean easily.

We will recommend users to use the Puly Grinder Cleaner for cleaning the burrs.
