        Why choose Yrgalem

The elegant Ethiopian for floral black coffee

Yrgalem is not a coffee for customers chasing thick bitterness or dark roast power. It is the opposite: a refined Ethiopian Arabica built around fragrance, clarity and a clean citrus finish. Choose it when you want coffee that feels graceful, aromatic and memorable in long black, filter coffee, pour-over or a lighter espresso.

        01

        Floral Ethiopian identity

A lifted floral aroma gives Yrgalem a more elegant identity than ordinary office or supermarket coffee.

        02

        Bergamot and honey

Bergamot brightness and honey-like sweetness make the cup feel refined without becoming harsh or aggressively sour.

        03

        Clean washed clarity

Washed processing gives the cup structure and transparency, helping the floral and citrus notes stay clean.

        04

        Selected garden coffee

Selected from small Ethiopian garden coffees in Sidamo, giving the coffee a real origin story instead of anonymous Arabica.

        Taste profile

Flowers, bergamot, honey and citrus aftertaste

Yrgalem is a fragrance-first coffee. Its value is not heaviness, but aroma: floral notes, bergamot lift, honey sweetness and a clean citrus aftertaste that makes it excellent between meals or as a refined black coffee.

        Aroma

        Floral aroma

A graceful floral bouquet that makes the cup feel lighter, cleaner and more premium.

        Note

        Bergamot and honey

A refined mix of citrus-like brightness and gentle sweetness, ideal for black coffee drinkers.

        Finish

        Citrus aftertaste

A fresh finish that keeps the cup clean and lively without moving into heavy bitterness.

        Best suited for

Black coffee drinkers, filter users and refined espresso lovers

Yrgalem is best for customers who enjoy coffee black: long black, filter coffee, pour-over, batch brew or a lighter single-origin espresso. It is also suitable for offices and hospitality buyers who want a more elegant guest coffee instead of a heavy house blend.

Choose Yrgalem when you want floral aroma and citrus clarity. Choose 78/22, Mediterraneo or Margo when the priority is thick body, low acidity and strong milk-drink performance.

        The buying logic

A coffee for people who notice aroma

Many coffees rely on strength to feel impressive. Yrgalem wins differently. It is for customers who appreciate fragrance, clean acidity and a cup that feels precise rather than heavy. It gives home and office buyers a refined Ethiopian origin that is easy to explain: flowers, bergamot, honey and citrus.

Best for customers who say: “I want something fragrant and clean, not bitter or dark.”

        Origin and selection

        Selected Yrgalem from Sidamo, Ethiopia

Yrgalem comes from Ethiopia’s Sidamo region, where many coffees are grown by very small producers in “coffee gardens”. Le Piantagioni’s selection was created through a relationship with Abdallah Bagersh, a recognised Ethiopian coffee taster and selector, to obtain a special Sidamo coffee chosen for quality and character.

        Starting point for extraction

For single-origin coffees, the supplier guide generally starts from 16g–18g. For most home and office users, we recommend using 18g–20g for a richer flavour and easier extraction, especially when preparing espresso or a longer black coffee.

        Good to know

Works for espresso and filter, but keep it clean

Yrgalem can be brewed as espresso, long black or filter coffee. If the cup tastes too light, increase the dose or grind slightly finer. If it tastes dry or too sharp, grind slightly coarser or shorten the extraction.

For milk-heavy users who prefer thick, dark coffee, choose a fuller espresso blend instead. Yrgalem is best when its floral and citrus character can show.

        FAQ

        Yrgalem, answered

        Who should choose Yrgalem?

Choose Yrgalem if you want an elegant Ethiopian coffee with floral aroma, bergamot, honey and citrus aftertaste. It is best for black coffee drinkers, filter users and customers who prefer fragrance over bitterness.

        What does Yrgalem taste like?

Yrgalem has floral aroma, bergamot and honey hints, pleasant acidity and a citrus aftertaste.

        Is Yrgalem suitable for espresso?

Yes. Yrgalem can be used for espresso, long black and filter coffee. For espresso, we recommend starting with 18g–20g for richer flavour and easier extraction.

Is Yrgalem good for milk drinks?

It can be used with milk, but the floral notes are easily covered. For cappuccino, latte or office milk coffee, a fuller espresso blend using 18g to 20g may be more suitable.

Is Yrgalem suitable for office coffee?

Yes, if the office wants a refined black coffee or filter coffee option. For offices where most users drink cappuccino or latte, a fuller espresso blend may be more suitable.

        Is Yrgalem acidic?

Yrgalem has pleasant, noticeable acidity. It is meant to taste clean and lifted, not dark and low-acid like a traditional Italian espresso blend.

        Where does Yrgalem come from?

Yrgalem comes from Ethiopia’s Sidamo region. It is made from Typica Arabica, washed in fermentation tanks, sun-dried on suspended beds, and specially selected as a Grade 2 coffee.

What dose should I use for espresso?

For single-origin coffees, the supplier starting point is generally 16g–18g. For a richer flavour and easier extraction, we recommend 18g–20g, then fine-tune according to your grinder, machine and cup size.

        Why is nitrogen-flushed packaging important?

Nitrogen-flushed and hermetically sealed packaging helps slow oxidation while the bag remains unopened. This is useful for preserving delicate floral and citrus aromatics before opening.
